Path of Exile Item Upgrading
The ability to upgrade items allows players to improve their weapons and gear with new affixes, increasing the base stats of the item or adding additional perks. To upgrade an item, a player has to have it in their inventory, as well as access to the kiln.
Items that have weak bases, such as rings, can be upgraded into more robust bases. Items with strong bases, such as Titans from eth, have no change in their stats.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons, trinkets, and gathering tools. They can be used as an attribute bonus or additional effect, when the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, or found as loot gathered by enemies or gotten from chests and missions. Certain upgrades come with additional cosmetic effects. Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant variations from previous versions. Gear is now categorised in tracks and each item can only be upgraded a certain number of times before it is "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level, but the materials required do not. This allows players to focus their efforts on a handful of key items and maximize their impact instead of spreading upgrade costs across multiple pieces.
Once item upgrading has been leveled out in this way, it is capable of receiving an upgrade set of components, and an increase in the likelihood that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is called the Artisan's Energy. It will reset to 0 if the upgrade fails, or increases if the upgrade succeeds.
Once a piece of gear is upgraded to its maximum level it is able to be given affixes that enhance its capabilities. The amount of affixes available is determined by the item's class. For instance the rare or exclusive weapon with a base that is normal will have no more than two affixes to choose from and a legendary armor will have up to eight affixes for it.
Each upgrade process requires a specific number of Flightstones or Crests, based on the type of item at its current level, and in which slot it is located in. In general, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other kinds of equipment.
If an item fails to attain its maximum level, the NPC offers players the option to transfer it to a new character and then re-infuse it with a new set or upgrades. This procedure can take as long as two hours and cost the same amount of materials. However it has a lower success rate.
To measure the height of a building engineers employ an instrument to compare the measurement against a known reference point like a benchmark, or the elevation of the ground. The game also includes number sets that grant an extra bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are equipped on a unit. This is an excellent method to add lots of power to a particular character without spending a lot of money.
Many players choose to reroll their equipment and weapons, especially in the beginning stages of the game. Rerolling is a way to get a more powerful character quicker, which enables you to progress in the game and achieve higher tiers.
Sets
